Quick answer

What is a cheaper alternative to Vultr, DigitalOcean or Linode in Tokyo or Singapore?

On 2 November 2026, Vultr charged $20.00 a month for 2 vCPU / 4 GB / 80 GB in Tokyo and Singapore, and Akamai (Linode) and DigitalOcean $24.00. In Lacquerbay's survey of crypto hosts that ask for no ID, VSYS Host sold that size in Singapore for $11.00 and WebHorizon 2 vCPU / 6 GB in Tokyo for $12.00. Every price was read on the host's own site.

How do Vultr, DigitalOcean and Linode price Tokyo and Singapore?

Vultr and Akamai (Linode) charge the same price in Tokyo, Osaka and Singapore, and DigitalOcean sells only in Singapore. None of the three has a Hong Kong region. Vultr's $2.50 (IPv6-only) and $3.50 plans are not offered in any Asian region, according to its plans API, so Vultr starts at $5.00 in Asia. DigitalOcean's $4.00 plan in Singapore has 512 MB of RAM and 10 GB of disk.

Which hosts cost less than Vultr, DigitalOcean or Linode, size by size?

According to Lacquerbay's survey of 2 November 2026, the least expensive 2 vCPU / 4 GB / 80 GB plan from a no-ID crypto host in Singapore cost 45% less than Vultr and 54% less than DigitalOcean or Linode. In Tokyo, the first-ranked plan at that size costs 40% less than Vultr and carries 6 GB of RAM instead of 4.

  • At 1 GB, Singapore shows no saving: VSYS Host and Vultr both charge $5.00. In Tokyo, WebHorizon's $6.00 buys 3 GB of RAM where Vultr's $5.00 buys 1 GB.
  • From 2 GB up, the gap opens: each first-ranked Singapore plan costs 30 to 55% less than Vultr's plan of the same size.
  • In Tokyo, it closes again at 4 vCPU / 8 GB: 1Gbits at $39.99 is one cent under Vultr.

What about Hong Kong, where none of the three sells?

Amazon Lightsail is the only mainstream cloud with a Hong Kong region, at $7.00 a month for 2 vCPU / 1 GB / 40 GB with 1 TB, half the transfer it includes in Tokyo or Singapore. Lightsail takes no crypto and verifies a phone number and a card at signup. Among crypto hosts with no ID check, is*hosting sold 1 vCPU / 1 GB / 20 GB in Hong Kong for $6.99, and GreenCloud 1 vCPU / 8 GB for $10.00, with stock of 1 to 5 units. Where does Lacquerbay fit among the alternatives?

Lacquerbay, the publisher of this comparison, is one of the alternatives: one price in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo, paid in crypto from a prepaid balance. No KYC: we ask for no identity document, no selfie, no card and no phone number. It sells month to month or longer, not by the hour, and its vCPU are shared.

What should you weigh besides the monthly price?

Small hosts trade the big clouds' elasticity for a lower fixed price, and each one writes its own conditions.

  • Stock: GreenCloud's 8 GB plan at $10.00 showed 1 to 5 units per location; a big cloud rarely runs out of a basic size.
  • Location labels: WebHorizon's "Singapore" plans run in Johor, Malaysia, by its own knowledge base (how to check where a VPS is located); HostDare's store says Tokyo while its FAQ says Osaka.
  • ID on a trigger: is*hosting checks some accounts by risk score; MonoVM and 1Gbits tie ID checks to refunds. Which Asia VPS hosts ask no ID, and when do they ask anyway? lists every trigger.
  • Billing: hourly billing lets a server live for a day; the crypto hosts bill a month at a time or longer.

The lower prices that failed one of these conditions are listed on What is the cheapest VPS in Hong Kong, Singapore or Tokyo?
